"You have to listen to yourself practising like the sharpest critic in the audience." This guiding principle of her teacher Ludwig Hoffmann, who was one of the few students of the legendary Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, still shapes her work on the piano today.

The Berlin pianist Corinna Simon received her first piano lessons at the age of five.  At the age of twelve she was accepted at the "Julius Stern Institut", the renowned conservatory in Berlin.
From 1978 she studied piano under Professor Ingeborg Wunder at the "Hochschule der Künste", Berlin, and after that under Professor Ludwig Hoffmann at the "Hochschule für Musik und Theater", Munich. During this time she took part in master classes given by György Sebök, Maria Curcio, Halina Czerny-Stefanska, Malcolm Frager and Karlheinz Kämmerling.

In 1984 she had her debut as a soloist at the Berlin Philharmonie.
Since then she has had a very succesful career as a pianist in solo works and chamber music. Various engagements have lead her to the major music metropoles of Europe, like Vienna, Paris, Stockholm, Oslo, Brussels, Moscow and to the "Lucerne Festival". She has also performed in the USA, South America, Asia and Africa, among them in Washington, New York, San Francisco, Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City, Shanghai, Singapore, Jakarta and Johannesburg.

Moreover, she has had the privilege of performing at official ceremonies to honour the following personalities - the former president of the Federal Republic of Germany Roman Herzog, the former UN-representative Mohammed el-Baradei, His Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal of Jordan, the former German foreign minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher and Dennis Meadows, the co-founder of "Club of Rome", among others.

She has worked with well-known conductors like Jakov Kreizberg, Walter Weller, Christóbal Halffter, Marc Piollet, Silvio Viegas, Lior Shambadal and Lukas Karytinos.

As a chamber musician Ms. Simon has given concerts with several famous personalities, for example the cellist Alban Gerhardt, the violinist Rainer Kimstedt and the singer Peter Maus.

She has been extremely successful performing and recording piano rarities in recent years. Commemorating the twentieths anniversary of the reunification of Germany in 2010, she gave numerous concerts featuring solo works by contemporary composers like Hans Werner Henze, Bernd Alois Zimmermann and Friedrich Goldmann in several European countries and in the USA.

2011 saw the release of her CD of piano works by the Russian composer Reinhold Moritzewich Glière, which received outstanding reviews from the international press.
 
In 2013, two recordings were released as CDs. "George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue / Piano Works" was released on Musikproduktion Dabringhaus & Grimm and "Jean Françaix" on Crystal Classics / Deutschlandradio Kultur.

In 2015, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the German Unification, she and the former President of the German Parliament Wolfgang Thierse performed a special musical and literary program with texts and piano works by German authors and composers, written between 1949 and 1989.

In 2016 her recording of the complete piano works by Witold Lutosławski was released on CAvi Music / Deutschlandradio Kultur.

Her CD "L´Album des Six" was released on Sony Classical in June 2019. This album includes piano works by George Auric, Louis Durey, Arthur Honnegger, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc and Germaine Tailleferre.

In addition, her new album "Piano for Children" (Sony Classical / Deutschlandfunk Kultur) was released. It contains masterpieces by great composers written for children.

In July 2020 she performed Beethoven's 3rd piano concerto at the monastery El Escorial with the Orquesta de la RTVE España. The open-air concert was the first major event in Spain since the beginning of the corona crisis.

In November 2020, her CD "Klavier für Kinder 2" (Sony Classical / Deutschlandfunk Kultur) was released.
 
Corinna Simon has been teaching an advanced class of talented young pianists and prospective musicians in Berlin for over 25 years. Her pupils include Sophie Mautner and Martin Helmchen.
She regularly teaches masterclasses at internationally renowned conservatories and music universities.
